Spring Performance 2017 - The Pharaoh’s Daughter

Important documents:

We will offer one free ticket to a parent who volunteers during a performance. Parents may volunteer twice and receive two free tickets. The free ticket may be used for either performance. There is no requirement to volunteer but we greatly appreciate those parents who are willing to help.

General admission tickets are each $20.00 for children, adults and seniors. Cash or checks accepted. Tickets are for sale at ASB, Dress Rehearsals, and at each performance.

The doors to Acton-Boxborough High School theater open at 1:30 p.m. for general seating. There is no advanced seating, and families may not enter the theater prior to that time to “reserve seats.” Any coats found prematurely “reserving” seats will be politely removed by the ushers. Please respect this policy which we firmly enforce in order to be fair to all.

While waiting to perform, all students in Pre-Ballet and Levels 1 through 7 and Modern 1/2 will stay with their classes and chaperones in the cafeteria. There will be signage directing students to this space. Students can bring games, other activities and non-staining snacks to pass the time until they exit to perform on stage. Numerous chaperones will oversee these groups. Levels 8, 9, 10, Advanced Ballet, Advanced/Contemporary Ballet, and Modern 3 will stay in the downstairs dressing room under the stage.

Students will not be able to leave the dressing rooms without a parent or teacher chaperone for any reason. If your student is performing in the first half of the show and you would like to take her/him out at intermission to watch the second half of the show, you will need to sign her/him out with the head chaperone. Your patience with this policy ensures the smooth running of our production and the safety of all students. Students may only watch the performance in street clothes, never in costume.

On performance days, students should arrive to the theater in street clothes. They change into their costumes in the cafeteria, bathrooms or dressing rooms and have their makeup applied with their class by the makeup staff. They are expected to remain with their classes until they are chaperoned to the theater for their performance on stage. After they come off the stage, they are chaperoned back to the cafeteria. Students who perform in the first half may change out of their costumes, sign out of with a parent and re-enter the theater to watch the second half during intermission. They may not enter while the performance is in progress. Students do not need a ticket to watch after intermission or on a day when they are not performing. They may watch for free.

Parents may video ONLY during the dress rehearsals on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Flash photography is never allowed, as it can be very dangerous to the dancers.

PLEASE! If parents must leave the theater prior to intermission, they are asked to do so discreetly, waiting until a piece is over and then exit during applause, out of respect for the dancers performing onstage and other audience members trying to enjoy the show.

As always, we have tried to keep the cost of costumes down. Thank you for your understanding of this one time expense. If the costume has creases from shipping, hang it in the bathroom and let steam do its magic. If a costume comes with accessories such as hairpieces or flowers, please keep with costume in a baggie attached to hanger. We can not reorder items.

Never, ever iron a costume - it can melt!

Female students must wear clean pink tights (no holes or runs) and pink ballet slippers (unless their costume requirements are different). No underwear is worn under costumes. No jewelry or watches.

Hair must be tightly secured in a bun (use a hair net - available at CVS) unless your student’s teacher has instructed a different hairstyle. No bangs for Level 3 and up. All headpieces must be secured with bobby pins and hair spray. Bring extra bobby pins and hair spray.

Makeup is required for the performances only, not dress rehearsal. Students are required to purchase a small amount of makeup for their role, which will be applied by makeup staff at the theater on the day of performance. Each student should bring the required makeup items in a small bag labeled with her/his name. These items can be purchased at a CVS or other drugstore. See the Performance Makeup Instructions form for details.

Family and friends may send their student good luck wishes, which will be printed in the program. Wishes (twenty words or less) are $5.00 each. Wish forms are included in this packet and are also on the desk next to the ASB upper lobby. Please return forms by May 19.

Each year Acton School of Ballet offers logo wear for sale such as sweatshirts, tote bags and t shirts. Items will be sold at both performances.

Photographer Mike Nyman will again take portraits and performance shots. Portrait sittings will be done at the ASB studios. Parents may sign up online to reserve times at After the show all of his photographs will be posted online and you may purchase performance photos directly from his website, like last year. His website is

DVD videos of both performances will be available for purchase from Spectron A.I. Order forms will be available in our lobbies, at the performances, and on the ASB web site.
