July Afternoon Dance Program 2017

ASB’s July Dance Program is scheduled for three weeks: July 10-14, July 17-21, and July 24-28. Students from ages 9 to 18 may register for one, two or all three weeks - each week has a self-contained curriculum.

Students from ASB and other schools are welcome, as well as students new to dance (in the Intermediate division). Students will have opportunities to take classes in ballet, repertory and variations, modern, and jazz from preeminent teachers in those genres at the ASB studios.

We have a full and exciting schedule planned for all participants. In addition to classes in ballet, jazz, and modern dance we will be a folk dance workshop on Wednesdays.

Instructions for registration

To register for the 2017 July program,

  1. Review the program information below to determine which classes your dancer(s) will be taking.

  2. Download the registration form HERE.

  3. Fill out both pages of the form including the release form.

  4. Return the form to Acton School of Ballet, either in person or by mailing it to

Program Information

Intermediate Division I & II

Ages

  • Non-ASB students: 9 to 10-1/2 (Intermediate I), 10-1/2 to 12 (Intermediate II)
  • ASB students: Levels 3, 4 & 5 (as of fall 2015)

Sample Schedule for Intermediate I

12:30 - 2:00 p.m. ballet technique
2:00 - 3:15 p.m. character
3:15 - 3:30 p.m. rest break
3:30 - 4:45 p.m. jazz/modern/supplementary

Sample Schedule for Intermediate II

12:30 - 2:00 p.m. ballet technique
2:00 - 3:15 p.m. jazz/modern/supplementary
3:15 - 3:30 p.m. rest break
3:30 - 4:45 p.m. variations

Tuition: $325.00 per week

Attire: Girls – leotard (black or color used in regular ballet classes in the spring), pink tights, ballet slippers, jazz shoes if owned, hair in a bun. Boys – white T-shirt, black leggings/tights, ballet shoes (black or white).

Bring a healthy snack daily.

Upper Division

Ages

  • Non-ASB students: 13 years old and up
  • ASB students: Level 6 & up (as of fall 2017)

Prerequisites: 3 years of ballet or placement class

The Upper Division meets from 12:30-5:00 p.m. daily and is for ages 13-18. These students take classes in ballet technique, repertory, jazz, modern, and a supplementary dance form (TBD). Students with a year or more of pointe training may take the ballet classes en pointe.

Sample Schedule

12:30 - 2:00 p.m. jazz/modern/supplementary
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. ballet technique
3:30 - 3:45 p.m. rest break
3:45 - 5:00 p.m. repertory

Tuition: $350.00 per week

Attire: Girls – ballet slippers, pink tights, and leotard (black or color they used in regular ballet classes in the spring), hair in a bun, pointe shoes (optional), jazz and character shoes if owned. Boys – black or white ballet slippers, black leggings or tights, and a white T-shirt, jazz shoes if owned.

Bring a healthy snack daily.

Pointe Class

Introductory Pointe Class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. during each of the three program weeks. The class is intended for students beginning on pointe, but may be taken by students with previous pointe experience, too.

Applicants either must pass ASB’s Pointe Readiness Evaluation before beginning the class, or have already studied pointe at ASB. Please contact ASB to verify your student’s eligibility in this supplementary class.

Students may only take the pointe class as a supplement to an afternoon session (either Intermediate or Upper Division).

Tuition: $60.00 per week

Faculty to be announced

Attire: same as Intermediate Division, plus pointe shoes.
