Pre-Professional

Students must be enrolled in Level 7 or above of the ASB Classical Ballet Syllabus Track, and be at least 13 years of age. About

ASB implemented a new program in the fall of 2020 designed to supplement student’s training for those who are aiming for a professional career in dance. In the past, many alumni have gone on to pursue dance in higher education and professional companies. We felt it was time to foster the additional needs of these students by increasing the number of hours in studio and offering more individualized training with the goal of preparing these students for the professional world. Students must be at least 13 years of age and a rising ASB Level 7, unless by invitation of the Director. Focus will be on individualized coaching, development of artistry, strength, and performance work to challenge and prepare students to transition to the professional field of ballet and further education in dance. The focus of each class will vary from week to week, but will mainly be with Ms. Moncrieff, the Director of the school. 

Students will need to demonstrate a commitment to spending increased time training in addition to the requirements of their regular syllabus level at ASB. The additional time and dedication to this program will likely mean adjusting academic schedules to accommodate this added component. If a student is unable to keep up attendance in their regular ballet classes they may be asked not to continue in the Pre-professional program. Please read below for participation requirements and additional details.

Students will train in studio two times per week and acceptance will be limited to 10-12 students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Schedule 2024-2025: Tuesday 3:45-5:45 and Friday 3:30 - 5:30 pm with Ms. Moncrieff. Master Classes, performance opportunities, and lecture/workshops are included during the year.

Students age 13 and up with at least 1.5 years of pointe are invited to audition. Application details will be sent to interested applicants. Auditions will be held on June 4, 2024 from 3:45-6:00 pm.
