Leotards can be ordered in person or online through a local dance store, Dance This Way, located at 79 Commonwealth Avenue, West Concord (978-318-1960), or online at www.sodanca.com. Ballet slippers and pointe shoes should always be professionally fitted at a dance store. You may also purchase tights in person or online. Please make sure you adhere to ASB’s Dress Code, otherwise you will be requested to purchase additional attire if you do not have the correct ones. Why do we have a dress code?
The dress code is an important part of our syllabus programs and age-appropriate dance wear is selected at each level. It is important that students follow the dress code for a variety of reasons:
Allows teachers to see a student’s musculature, which in turn helps to improve technique and prevent injury
Provides a sense of structure and community with peers in their class
Limits distractions and allows students to move properly in class

Students in the Lower School wear full sole leather ballet slippers. Students in the Upper School transition into split sole canvas shoes, which helps them to better articulate through their feet and prepare for pointe work. Please select from the following options.
Lower School Options (First Steps through Level 2)

Students Identifying As Male
Black tights or leggings, dance belt, a white close-fitting T-shirt or leotard, white socks and black ballet shoes.
Students Identifying as Female
In all classes students are expected to wear their hair up in a bun or other fashion that is neat and away from their face. *In Pre-Ballet and up, all students are required to make a bun. Please help your students put their hair in a bun until they are able to do it themselves. Students should bring a bag containing a comb or brush, hair elastics, hair nets, and hair pins or bobby pins in their dance bags. Students in the Upper School (Level 3 and up) should not wear undergarments of any kind under their leotards.

Parent & Me
Ballet slippers are recommended, but not required. Please have your student wear clothing that they can move freely in and socks that are not slippery (if not ballet slippers). Leotards and tights welcomed, but not required.
